Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi says Tehran is ready to continue negotiations with the European trio of Britain, France, and Germany (E3) and the European Union over its nuclear program.

In a phone conversation with German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul on Monday, Araghchi outlined the diplomatic path between Iran and the United States regarding the termination of sanctions against Tehran.

He said Europe plays a significant and constructive role vis-à-vis the nuclear issue.

The top Iranian diplomat also expressed hope for the improvement of his country's relations with Germany and reiterated Tehran's readiness to take effective steps in this regard given certain agreements between the two sides.

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs Kazem Gharibabadi and Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Majid Takht-Ravanchi met with representatives of the three European members of the 2015 nuclear deal, formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), in the Turkish city of Istanbul in May.

"Iran and the E3 are determined to sustain and make best use of diplomacy," Gharibabadi wrote in a post on his X account following the meeting.

The US and Iran have held five rounds of nuclear talks since April 12 and are expected to meet again for negotiations aimed at reaching a new agreement. The two countries have been at odds over the level of uranium enrichment.

The German foreign minister, for his part, expressed his country's readiness to continue bilateral and multilateral talks with Iran and to take further confidence-building measure.

The Iranian and German foreign ministers agreed to make arrangement for political negotiations between the two countries' foreign ministries with the aim of addressing certain bilateral issues.
