Tehran, IRNA -- The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) says it has seized a large cache of explosives and military equipment belonging to anti-Iran militant groups near the country's northwestern border.
According to a statement carried by IRGC's official news portal Sepah News on Tuesday, the IRGC's Hamzeh Seyyed ul-Shohada base intercepted the cargo while it was being smuggled into Iran through the Targor border area in Urmia county.
The shipment included significant quantities of explosives, weapons, and ammunition, including 198 explosive devices, the statement said.
The IRGC added that the items were intended to be transported deeper into the country for use in attacks aimed at destabilizing national security.
