Tehran, IRNA -- President Masoud Pezeshkian has reaffirmed that Iran's nuclear program is solely for peaceful purposes and aimed at meeting the country's domestic needs, stressing that the Islamic Republic has never pursued nuclear weapons.
Pezeshkian made the remarks on Tuesday while receiving the credentials of Austria's new ambassador to Tehran, Friedrich Stift.
The president said some countries have attempted to cast doubt on Iran's peaceful nuclear activities by making unfounded allegations and engaging in extensive propaganda campaigns. These efforts, he noted, persist despite assurances by Iran that it has never sought to develop nuclear arms.
"Our nuclear program has been carried out entirely within the framework of peaceful applications of nuclear energy, focused on meeting the needs of our people in areas such as health, medicine, industry, agriculture, science, and technology," he emphasized.
Pezeshkian also underlined that Iran's foreign policy is based on cooperation and expansion of relations with all countries based on friendship, peace, and mutual interests.
Regarding Austria, he said Iran has maintained constructive, respectful relations with the European country for decades and continues to seek stronger bilateral ties across all fields.
