On November 17, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov had a telephone call with Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran Abbas Araghchi, at the initiative of the Iranian side.
The foreign ministers continued their interested exchange of opinions on key regional issues, focusing on efforts to resolve Afghan-Pakistani disagreements through political and diplomatic methods. While discussing the Palestinian-Israeli political settlement, the ministers emphasised the importance of achieving stable peace in accordance with a generally recognised international legal framework and the need to dully consider the existing decisions regarding the establishment of a Palestinian state during the current work of the UN Security Council. The officials effectively coordinated their positions on the Iranian nuclear programme ahead of the upcoming IAEA Board of Governors session.
The ministers expressed their profound satisfaction with the highly active multi-level bilateral contacts that facilitate the further expansion of the comprehensive Russian-Iranian strategic partnership.
