Iran underscores constructive cooperation with China, Russia against US unilateralism

Iran's foreign minister has placed a premium on constructive cooperation between Iran, China, and Russia against the United States' unilateralism.

In a phone call on Wednesday with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, Abbas Araghchi said it was a key factor in strengthening multilateralism at the United Nations.

The Iranian minister thanked Beijing for its "responsible and principled stance" in rejecting the Western attempt at activating the "snapback" mechanism at the UN Security Council.

Araghchi said the joint efforts of Iran, China, and Russia received the support of 121 member states of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM).

The Iranian minister also condemned the Israeli regime for its continued destabilizing actions in West Asia, urging the international community to stand against the "warmongering and hegemonic policies" of Israel to prevent further escalation in the region.

For his part, Wang Yi reaffirmed the strategic nature of the Tehran-Beijing ties and underscored the need for continued coordination and regular contacts between the two countries at the UN and other multilateral institutions.

The Chinese minister also praised Iran's peaceful approach on using nuclear energy and reiterated China's support for Iran's nuclear rights as a principal member of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).

Both sides highlighted the constructive meeting between their presidents in September and expressed hope that the upcoming session of the High-Level Cooperation Mechanism would accelerate the implementation of agreements reached under the framework of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

Concluding their talks, the two foreign ministers agreed to maintain close diplomatic contacts and deepen bilateral cooperation in the coming year, which coincides with the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Iran and China.
