The presidents of Iran and Venezuela agreed that "national unity" and solidarity are the key to resisting foreign intervention and preserving national sovereignty amid the United States' provocative actions against Caracas.
In a phone conversation on Monday, Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian and his Venezuelan counterpart Nicolás Maduro exchanged views on the latest regional and international developments, especially in the wake of the US's provocative actions against Venezuela, as well as strategies to expand and deepen bilateral relations.
Pezeshkian expressed his satisfaction with Maduro's report on the national cohesion established in the country, noting that Iran's experience during the US-Israeli aggression has shown that "national unity and internal solidarity" defeated the aggressors.
"As long as this unity is maintained, no foreign power will be able to harm our countries," he added.
Pezeshkian stated that for years, the United States has used "false propaganda and unrealistic narratives" as a pretext to justify threats, pressure, and violations of international law against Iran.
"Iran strongly condemns any violation of the territorial integrity of countries and supports the territorial integrity of Venezuela with all its might," he underscored.
He also welcomed Venezuela's efforts to maintain regional peace and stability and reaffirmed Iran's readiness to deepen cooperation with its friendly ally.
For his part, President Maduro underscored the complete unity and cohesion within Venezuela, noting that this "exemplary solidarity" between the state, the public, and the armed forces has endowed the nation with a power that ensures its safety and strength against any threat.
Maduro said the United States is waging a psychological war aimed at tarnishing Venezuela's image through "a fabricated and false narrative," which is not accepted even among the public opinion of its own people.
"We are in complete peace, but with determination and full readiness, we will stand against any possible threat," he said, referring to the recent US provocative actions against Venezuela.
Maduro pointed to the overwhelming response of over 8 million Venezuelans ready to defend the nation as proof of the "national spirit and determination" of the nation.
The US has recently sent ships armed with Tomahawk missiles, an attack submarine, a range of aircraft, and more than 4,000 US sailors and Marines to the waters off Venezuela, while ordering the deployment of 10 advanced F-35 fighter jets to Puerto Rico.
Additionally, it has labeled Maduro as one of the world's largest narco-traffickers and doubled the bounty for his arrest to $50 million.
On Tuesday, a US military strike killed 11 people and sank a boat from Venezuela, which Trump claimed was transporting illegal narcotics.
Maduro has rejected the US allegations about his country, saying differences between the nations do not justify a "military conflict."
Elsewhere in his remarks, Maduro pointed to the country's peace-loving initiatives in the Latin American region and noted that "in a historic move, we have united with Latin American countries to achieve peace, and we will pursue this path with seriousness."
Appreciating Iran for its support, Maduro said the two countries are "more united than ever."
He characterized Iran's support as a "double motivation" for Venezuela in safeguarding its independence and national dignity, pledging to use all capacities to expand their cooperative efforts.
