Tehran, IRNA -- Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council and his British counterpart have exchanged views on the resumption of nuclear negotiations and the settlement of issues related to the so-called snapback mechanism.
Ali Larijani had a phone conversation with British National Security Advisor Jonathan Powell on Wednesday, when they agreed that consultations should continue with the aim of addressing nuclear matters through dialogue.
Last week, Germany, France, and Britain initiated the process of the so-called snapback mechanism, a clause that reinstates UN sanctions on Iran over claims of the Islamic Republic's "significant non-compliance" with the 2015 nuclear agreement, which was unilaterally abandoned by the United States in 2018.
Iran has described the move as illegal, vowing to deliver a decisive and reciprocal response if the mechanism takes effect.
