Tehran, IRNA -- President Masoud Pezeshkian has emphasized that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has not treated Iran fairly, while reaffirming the Islamic Republic's willingness to engage within accepted international frameworks free from bias.

Pezeshkian made the remarks during an interview with China Central Television (CCTV) on Tuesday, as part of his visit to Beijing.

The president criticized the double standards applied by proponents of unilateralism regarding the activation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA)'s snapback mechanism against Iran. He pointed out that countries that have violated the agreement themselves accuse Iran of non-compliance.

With respect to cooperation with the IAEA, Pezeshkian expressed dissatisfaction with the agency's approach toward Iran while reaffirming the Islamic Republic's willingness to engage within accepted international frameworks that are free from bias.

Regarding the threat of military aggression from the Israeli regime, Pezeshkian said that Iran does not seek war or unrest but is fully capable of defending itself.

The Iranian president underscored that the global governance reform initiative aims to replace unilateralism with a multilateral and justice-oriented approach, adding that such an initiative seeks to address the double standards that allow the Israeli regime and its supporters to disregard international legal frameworks while purporting to uphold human rights.

Pezeshkian emphasized the importance of countries opposed to unilateralism standing in solidarity with China, warning that the ambitions of totalitarian states should not hinder international cooperation through unjust sanctions.

He described China's Belt and Road Initiative as a strategic framework meant to promote cooperation for peace, security, and shared prosperity.

Reflecting on China's development, he praised the country's targeted and expertly managed progress, noting remarkable improvements in Beijing since his last visit a decade ago, particularly in air quality and traffic conditions.

Earlier, President Pezeshkian arrived in Beijing to participate in significant commemorations marking the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II and to attend a grand military parade hosted by China.

Chinese President Xi Jinping invited Pezeshkian to attend the pivotal events. His visit to Beijing included a high-speed train trip from Tianjin, reaching speeds of up to 350 km/h.
