Iran's top military official has underscored the need for the Air Defense Force to boost its power and effectiveness against emerging threats and potential acts of aggression against the country.

Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi made the remarks in a message he issued on Sunday, marking the National Air Defense Day.

He said the day is a reminder of the lofty determination and great sacrifices of brave men who, relying on faith, knowledge, and innovation, strive to ensure the security of Iran's skies in critical junctures.

He also noted that security developments in the region and beyond, particularly the experience Iran gained during June's Israeli-US aggression and the 1980s' Iraqi-imposed war, have increasingly highlighted the need to modernize systems, strengthen capabilities, and upgrade operational readiness of the Air Defense Force.

"Undoubtedly, in this regard, the Islamic Republic of Iran Air Defense Force, as the 'front line of defense for national sovereignty,' must consolidate and enhance its effectiveness and authority by utilizing modern technologies, indigenous innovations, and investment in committed and specialized human resources—... to successfully confront emerging threats and potential enemy aggressions," he added.

Mousavi further called for the implementation of an integrated national air defense system, along with the enhancement of coordination and synergy between the Army and the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC).
