Tehran, IRNA -- First Vice President Mohammadreza Aref says triggering the 'snapback' by the three European countries -Britain, France, and Germany- to re-impose UN sanctions on Iran raises serious questions about whether they have the authority to activate the mechanism.

During a cabinet meeting on Sunday, Aref said, however, that the Islamic Republic has always been able to move within the framework and specific strategies of governance in the face of sanctions.

He underlined that Iran is not in favor of sanctions, but the experiences of the past four decades have shown that the Iranian nation is too big to give in to Western sanctions.

"Of course, if the snapback is implemented, the necessary decisions will be taken accordingly," the vice president said, adding that there were still many doubts and problems in terms of the legibility of the mechanism.

He also pointed to President Masoud Pezeshkian's visit to China to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit, calling it an opportunity to develop multilateral relations, especially consolidating Tehran-Beijing cooperation in different fields.

Aref also addressed the brutal and inhuman Israeli attack on Yemeni leaders and officials, saying, "This fake regime has once again shown its nature, that it does not recognize any limits for its aggression."
