Tehran, IRNA -- President Masoud Pezeshkian says Iran does not seek war but will respond firmly to any aggression.
"We are not after war, and we've said that from day one, but we're not afraid of war either," Pezeshkian said in a meeting with three prominent media and political figures.
"Our people have shown that if war were to break out, internal cohesion and unity would be much stronger."
During the meeting, held with Seyyed Mohammad Ali Abtahi, Abdollah Ganji, and Alireza Moezi, Pezeshkian said his administration was firmly opposed to the activation of snapback of sanctions under the 2018 nuclear agreement.
"We do not want snapback at all," he said. "But it is questionable how some European countries, which themselves violate many international laws, now accuse us of not respecting frameworks. How can such claims be accepted from them?"
The president also emphasized that internal discord was a more pressing concern than external threats.
"My fear is not from snapback or external threats. My main concern is domestic rifts, the divisions that sometimes emerge over minor issues. The enemy's greed lies exactly in these differences," he said.
Pezeshkian underlined the importance of justice, fairness, and respect for citizens' rights in maintaining national unity.
"If honesty, justice, humanity, and fairness prevail in society, then even if we don't have missiles or F-16s, no one will easily covet our land and water. But if we have missiles and not the people, we have no real power," he argued.
The president further outlined his administration's plans to combat corruption through new mechanisms linking tax, land, and cadastral and property codes to improve transparency.
