
'The Defense Ministry self-sufficient in meeting needs and advancing new technology'

Tehran, IRNA -- The Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics (MODAFL) of the current administration has taken numerous steps to address its needs, as well as strengthen self-reliance in technological advancement by all means, says an analysis by the Islamic Republic News Agency.
According to the analysis published by IRNA on Monday, the ministry was able to excel in a wide range of areas such as aerospace, maritime, missile, electronics and optics, engineering, geographical and mapping, new energies, and welfare services.
It says the achievements, especially in producing and using advanced defense products, including in the field of aerospace, has made Iran a pioneer in the region and among the few countries in the world that possess these technologies and the accomplishment made by the Ministry of Defense largely goes to the administration's programs and activities targeting various areas in the past year.
Referring to some of the achievements, the IRNA analysis pointed to Armed Forces Social Security Organization that helped start Smart Health Information System, an information database for medicine prescription, distribution, and enabling the tracking code for illegal prescriptions.
In the first year of the current administration, the Ministry of Defense took numerous steps to participate in natural disaster management by leading the country's aerial firefighting control and support center, and utilizing the capacity of the Armed Forces. Among the most important measures taken by this ministry was the aerial firefighting of a massive blaze at Shahid Rajaee Port.
Clearing lands contaminated with mines and unexploded ordnance remaining from the Iraq-imposed war in the 1980s was another achievement of the ministry during the President Masoud Pezeshkian's tenure, the report cited, saying "the MODAFL cleared more than 2,510 hectares of land contaminated with mines and ammunition in five provinces".
With regard to the combat power of the Armed Forces, the report cited steps leading to a 87 percent increase in the production of defense-related products, including designing and manufacturing various types of ballistic missiles, combat and reconnaissance drones, as well as overhaul of various tactical and floating vehicles.
Accordingly, the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces Logistics has been able to increase the ability to counter electronic warfare and improve the quality of such warfare components and services.
Apart from mentioning Khorramshahr-4 liquid-fueled ballistic missile as a deterrent power, the IRNA analysis records expanding satellite launch capacity, and designing, manufacturing, and upgrading of various types of aircraft, helicopters in the one-year period of the current administration.
