Iran's Army Chief Major General Amir Hatami has expressed his forces' readiness to deliver a response to aggressors that is "more crushing" than the one seen during the illegal Israeli-US assault against the country.
He made the remarks in a message sent to Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Aziz Nasirzadeh on Friday, marking the National Defense Industry Day.
Hatami said Iran's progress in the defense sector reached a peak during the 1980-88 Iraqi imposed war and the June Israeli-US aggression, leading the world to recognize the country's reliance on the power of its people and indigenous defensive capabilities.
"The 12-day imposed war proved that the strategy of national unity and cohesion—under the wise guidance of Leader of the Islamic Revolution [Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei], the self-sacrifice of the Armed Forces, and most importantly, the insightful and conscious resistance of the beloved people of Islamic Iran—led our country to victory against the unholy alliance of evildoers and thwarted the enemy's sinister goals," he added.
"Today as well, the honorable sons of the nation in the Islamic Republic of Iran Army are ready—just as in the past—with strength and resolve to punish any malevolent aggressor and deliver a more crushing and regret-inducing response to it."
He also honored the memory of martyrs of the Israeli-US aggression and appreciated the efforts of Nasirzadeh, as well as dedicated experts, scientists, and employees of the Defense Ministry.
Hatami further voiced the Army's preparedness to "take great strides—using national capacities—to reach the lofty peaks of progress and growing power."
On June 13, Israel launched a blatant and unprovoked aggression against Iran, triggering a 12-day war that killed at least 1,064 people in the country, including military commanders, nuclear scientists, and ordinary civilians.
The United States also entered the war by bombing three Iranian nuclear sites in a grave violation of international law.
In response, the Iranian Armed Forces targeted strategic sites across the occupied territories as well as the al-Udeid air base in Qatar, the largest American military base in West Asia.
On June 24, Iran, through its successful retaliatory operations against both the Israeli regime and the US, managed to impose a halt to the terrorist aggression.
