Iran has condemned fresh sanctions imposed by the United Kingdom against the Islamic Republic, slamming them as "fundamentally unacceptable."

In a strongly-worded statement on Thursday, Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in London condemned the fresh sanctions by the British government on one Iranian individual and four entities a day earlier under the pretext of what London alleged "facilitating Tehran's cross-border activities."

"The British government, relying on baseless pretexts and groundless accusations, has taken these sanctions measures; an action that contradicts the principles of international law concerning friendly relations and cooperation among states, in accordance with the United Nations Charter, and only harms bilateral relations while intensifying distrust," the embassy stressed.

The statement went on to say that "Iran has always emphasized dialogue and mutual respect in international relations and has never designed or supported any threat to the internal security of the United Kingdom, nor has it taken any action in this regard. The claims made in this context are entirely rejected and fundamentally unacceptable."

The embassy also stressed that the main threat to regional and global peace is the aggressive conduct of Israel, which, through repeated international crimes - aggression, genocide, war crimes, and crimes against humanity - has become the primary source of instability.

"It is surprising that Western countries still remain indifferent to the protests of the international community against this child-killing regime and take no effective action to stop its crimes," it further said.

The embassy concluded that it reaffirms its commitment to mutual respect, non-interference, and constructive cooperation, urging Britain to stop its "hostile policies and illegal and destructive actions."

The statement came as the UK Foreign Office, continuing its unconstructive stance toward Iran, announced on later on Thursday that several Iranian trading and petrochemical companies had also been added to the sanctions list.
