Tehran, IRNA -- President Masoud Pezeshkian met with Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Pakistan's deputy prime minister and minister of foreign affairs, to discuss ways to strengthen regional cooperation and revive strategic agreements between Tehran and Islamabad.

The meeting took place on Sunday, the second day of Pezshkian's official visit to Pakistan.

He said trilateral agreements between Iran, Pakistan, and Turkey have never been fully implemented despite their strategic importance.

The president proposed a new strategic approach to restore the pacts and deepen economic and cultural cooperation among Islamic countries.

Pezeshkian also expressed gratitude to Pakistan for its vocal support of Iran during the Israeli war of aggression in June, which killed at least 1,064 people, including senior military commanders and nuclear scientists.

The president stressed that Islamic unity could deter further aggression by the Israeli regime and serve as a model of global resistance against hegemonic powers.

During the meeting, Ishaq Dar welcomed the Iranian president's visit and said Pakistan was committed to elevating relations with the Islamic Republic.

He noted that several memoranda of understanding were ready to be signed, signaling a new phase of cooperation.

Ishaq Dar also endorsed the idea of strengthening tripartite cooperation between Iran, Turkey, and Pakistan, as proposed by the Iranian president.

He further emphasized Pakistan's diplomatic role in recent United Nations Security Council deliberations concerning attacks on Iranian diplomatic premises.

Pakistan was actively present during these meetings and declared its clear stance in support of Iran, the Pakistani official pointed out. "An attack on Iran is an attack on Pakistan," he said.
