Tehran, IRNA -- Managing director of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) Mohsen Khojasteh-Mehr says oil production at southern oilfields will rise by 60,000 barrels per day (bpd) after a new phase goes into force.
In an interview with IRNA published on Monday, Khojasteh-Mehr said the Sepehr and Jafir oilfields currently produce 40,000 bpd.
As soon as the second phase of the oilfields is operational, the oil production will reach 100,000 bpd, he said.
With an area of 352 square kilometers, the Sepehr and Jafir oilfields are located east of the Azadegan oilfield in southeast Iran.
The development phase of the oilfields kicked off in August 2019 in a bid to strengthen the country's energy diplomacy.
