Iran's Navy Commander arrives in St. Petersburg

Tehran (ISNA) - Iranian Army's Navy Commander Rear Admiral Shahram Irani arrived in St. Petersburg to attend the annual Russian naval parade, during which two Iranian warships will also participate.

"One of the missions of naval forces of all countries, including Iran, is maritime and military diplomacy. Today, I participated in this ceremony in response to the invitation of the commander of the Russian Navy because the navy is an international force and we will definitely have an active presence in international area and we will raise our country's flag in all international arenas," Admiral Irani said.

Stating that bilateral meetings with the commanders of the navies of other countries and the commander of the Russian Navy will be held during this trip, he added, "We will hold an annual joint exercise with China and Russia in Chabahar, Makran coasts, and the northern Indian Ocean, and during this trip, we will negotiate with the commanders of the navies of these countries in this regard".

Two bow-class missile frigates of the Iranian army navy from the northern fleet of the force in the Caspian Sea have already left for Russia to participate in the Russian naval parade.
