Tehran (ISNA) - Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman, Nasser Kanani has reacted to the EU's new sanctions on the Islamic Republic of Iran under the pretext drone sales to Russia.
Kanaani said just as Iran has repeatedly declared in the past, the claim that Iranian drones were sold to Russia for use against Ukraine is baseless.
He added that any attempt to link the Ukraine war to bilateral cooperation between Iran and Russia merely pursues political goals.
Kanaani referred to the Islamic Republic of Iran's explicit and frequent opposition to the Ukraine war, stressing the need to end the conflict through diplomatic channels.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman reiterated that unfortunately, the West is trying to stick to its ineffective, failed policy of imposing sanctions on the Iranian people and it is doing this with political motives and by resorting to making unfounded and unproven allegations.
Kanaani stressed that the Islamic Republic of Iran reserves the right to take retaliatory and proportionate measures against the sanctions slapped on Tehran by the EU and its members.
