Tehran (ISNA) - Iran's Energy Minister, Ali Akbar Mehrabian announced that Iran will soon start exchanging electricity with Russia through Azerbaijan.
In an interview with ISNA, Mehrabian said, "To exchange electricity with Russia, we have pursued two routes of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Armenia-Georgia, and we are in the final stages of negotiations and implementation".
"Iran is also seeking to exchange electricity with some neighbors without payment," he added.
"We will soon start exchanging electricity with Russia through Azerbaijan. Connecting to the Russian electricity network via Armenia and Georgia is also on the agenda," Mehrabian went on to say.
"On the other hand, we are trying to connect Iran's electricity network to all regional countries. This makes the network more stable and provides more electricity during different times of the year," he stated.
