Tehran (ISNA) – Stressing that Iran believes the European troika (France, Germany, and the UK) are responsible for not fulfilling their commitments under the JCPOA as much as the United States, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani said, "These three European countries must be accountable for their failure".

Speaking at a weekly press conference on Monday, Kanaani added, "It is an illegal and unacceptable action that they get the upper hand despite their shortcomings and make accusations against Iran or impose sanctions against our country".

Emphasizing that Iran considers these actions unconstructive and futile, Kanaani noted, "Instead of making accusations, they must be accountable for their responsibilities under the JCPOA and fulfill their commitments".

Regarding Kuwait's allegations that Iran has no rights in the Arash gas field, the spokesperson said, "We are pursuing this issue within the framework of bilateral negotiations with Kuwaiti officials".

Elsewhere in his remarks, he rejected the claims raised by the Zionist media regarding the holding of talks between Iran and the Zionist regime over prisoner swap and called the claims baseless.

Regarding Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi's upcoming visit to three African countries, Kanaani said, "According to the policy of Iranian government in strengthening relations and cooperation with key countries in Africa as well as at the official invitations of the presidents of these three countries, President Raisi will travel to Kenya, Uganda and Zimbabwe. This visit is a very important opportunity to take a leap in the process of constructive and beneficial cooperation between Iran and these three countries. There are significant economic capacities in this continent. We describe this trip as a new starting point. African countries are seriously interested in developing relations with Iran, and the economic, technological, and technical capacities of the Islamic Republic are important to them".

"This visit can meet the demands in the African region and also meet Iran's determined goals for the development of comprehensive political, economic, and trade relations with African countries," he added.

Regarding the latest developments in bilateral relations with the Republic of Azerbaijan, Kanaani said, "Both sides agree to pass over the attack on the Azerbaijani embassy in Tehran within the framework of bilateral talks and restore relations to their natural course".

"Given the importance of bilateral relations, positive and constructive talks were held between the Iranian Foreign Minister and the President of Azerbaijan. Holding the meeting per se, the content of the talks, and the subsequent media reports indicate that we are on the right path," he added.

"The result of these talks, along with complementary practical steps, can pave the way for the resumption of activities at the Azerbaijani embassy in Tehran. We hope to witness the resumption of activities at the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Tehran in the near future," the spokesman went on to say.

Regarding the issue of sending Iran's envoy to Libya, Kanaani said that the activity of the Iranian embassy in Libya has started and Tehran will continue to strengthen its relations with Tripoli.

"The Libyan envoy to Tehran also submitted his credentials to President Raisi and the Iranian diplomatic delegation has settled in the embassy and held bilateral meetings with the officials of the Libyan Foreign Ministry," he added.
