Tehran (ISNA) - The Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Bagheri said at the welcoming ceremony of the 86th Navy's flotilla of the Islamic Republic of Iran Army, "The unprecedented action of Iranian Army in this difficult mission became a historic case and was the beginning point of a new history for Iranian Navy and Armed Forces".
During the ceremony in Bandar Abbas, General Mohammad Bagheri declared, "We have nothing less. This is an unprecedented action by the Iranian Army. This is not a negligible occurrence. We can witness that even those countries that have wealth and different forms of weapons and equipment and might potentially carry out such a mission have never dared to do so".
"This is the Islamic Republic of Iran, this is our heroic Army, and these are our courageous maritime forces that are able to make such a perilous journey with domestically manufactured Dena destroyer and Makran forward base ship amid growing economic, political, propaganda pressure and sanctions," he added.
General Bagheri said of the mission, "Statistics provided in the reports are exceptional and amazing. In fact, an Army under sanctions could conduct such a mission".
