Bushehr, IRNA -- Eight people who have had a leading role in the recent unrests in South Pars and Assalouyeh gas facilities in southern Iran have been arrested, according to a senior provincial official.
Akbar Pourat, a deputy governor general of Iran's southern Province of Bushehr, told reporters on Sunday that the eight arrested people were fueling worker unrests by posting instigating contents in social media and leading the protesting workers on the ground.
He also said that some contractors have also had a role in the unrests who have been identified and blacklisted.
The official said that allocating 50 percent of the jobs in the oil, gas and petrochemical facilities of the province is a legitimate local demand that cannot be ignored.
He added that contractors who have failed to recruit local people will be replaced.
