Nearly 3.5 mln liters of smuggled fuel seized in Persian Gulf

Bushehr, IRNA -- The IRGC Navy has confiscated as much as 3.412 million liters of smuggled fuel in Persian Gulf waters in southern Iran.
The public relations department of the second zone of the IRGC Navy said in an announcement on Saturday that the confiscated cargo has an estimated value of 735 billion rials (nearly $15 million).
Based on a court ruling, the cargo was handed over to a local office of the National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company, the announcement added.
The IRGC performs round-the-clock patrol operations in the Persian Gulf. The force uses some state-of-the-art equipment in its fight against smuggling in the region.
