Tehran, IRNA -- The naval force of the IRGC has reportedly seized a foreign oil tanker in the strategically important Strait of Hormuz in southern Iran.
The US Navy issued a statement on Wednesday which claimed that Iran had seized a Panamanian-flagged oil tanker named "Niovi" while passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
The statement said the tanker had left Dubai for Fujairah Port of UAE.
The US Navy published surveillance footage of a number of the IRGC vessels swarming the tanker.
Meanwhile, Tehran's Public and Revolution Prosecutor's office announced later on Wednesday that the Niovi oil tanker had been seized because of a private complaint and a subsequent order by relevant judicial authorities.
