Fighting terrorism stressed in Moscow quadrilateral confab

Moscow, IRNA -- The Quadrilateral Moscow Conference attended by defense ministers of Russia, Iran, Syria, and Turkiye emphasized the need for a joint combat against terrorism.

A final statement of the conference indicated that besides emphasis on campaign against terrorism, the main issues discussed in the conference included strengthening the security in Syria and normalizing that country's relations with Turkiye.

Also, special attention was made in the negotiations on the need for campaign against all types of terrorist threats, especially fighting against the ISIS terrorist group and other extremist groups in Syria.

The defense ministers of Russia, Iran, Syria and Turkiye reiterated in the negotiations their will to safeguard the territorial integrity of Syria and to make joint efforts aimed at returning the Syrian refugees to their motherland as soon as possible.

The four countries' defense ministers paid special attention to need for continuing constructive dialogues under any condition till achieving sustainable peace in Syria, and across the entire region.

Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Ashtiani who had arrived in Moscow on Monday evening attended the conference on Tuesday afternoon.
