Tehran (ISNA) - China's President Xi Jinping has officially welcomed his Iranian counterpart Ebrahim Raisi at National People's Congress on Tuesday.
During the welcoming ceremony on Tuesday, 21 cannons were fired and national anthems of Iran and China were played.
The two presidents took pictures and introduced members of their accompanying delegations.
At the head of a high-ranking economic and political delegation, President Raisi arrived at Beijing International Airport Tuesday morning local time and was welcomed by China's Minister of Culture and Tourism Hu Heping.
Ahead of his visit, President Raisi wrote an editorial in China's state-controlled People's Daily in which he said both countries believe that unilateralism and "violent" measures such as the imposition of "unjust" sanctions are the main causes of crises and insecurity in the world.
In the editorial, Raisi described China as an "old friend", and said Iran's efforts to strengthen bilateral relations would unaffected by regional and international situations.
The two governments are expected to sign cooperation documents during the visit.
