Tehran (ISNA) - Iran's secretary of the Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani stressed that relations between Iran and Russia are developing more fundamentally than before in various dimensions.

Shamkhani, who left Iran for Russia to attend a summit that will focus on political, economic and security situation in Afghanistan, was welcomed by Iranian ambassador to Moscow, Kazem Jalali and deputy of Russia's secretary of National Security Council at the airport.

Upon his arrival in Moscow, Shamkhani said, "Relations between Iran and Russia in various dimensions including economic, defense, security, scientific and commercial are developing more fundamentally than before".

"For assessing the road map of bilateral relations in different areas, it is necessary to continuously review and monitor the implementation of what the officials of the two countries have determined," he added.

Pointing to the meeting of the secretaries of the Security Council of Afghanistan's neighboring countries, Shamkhani said, "At the meeting, the political, economic and security developments in Afghanistan will be discussed".

"The problems and troubles of the Afghans are caused by the inefficiency of the occupiers and the events after the occupation. Afghanistan is a regional crisis point, therefore the countries around Afghanistan in this summit will find ways to help solve the problems of this country," he added.
