Tehran (ISNA) - Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani announced that a delegation from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) will visit Iran in near future and negotiations between Iran and the Agency will continue.

Speaking at a weekly press conference on Monday, Kanaani said, "A delegation from Iran had already traveled to Vienna and held talks with officials of the IAEA. Iran continues its constructive talks with the Agency to resolve safeguards issues. In this regard, it was agreed that a delegation from the IAEA will travel to Iran and continue the talks".

"So, a delegation from the IAEA will travel to Iran in near future and negotiations between Iran and the Agency will continue," he added.

"Iran will continue its constructive relations with the IAEA to solve issues related to the Safeguards Agreements. But some countries are trying to damage Iran-IAEA cooperation," the spokesman noted.

Turning to the statement of the EU about Iran, Kanaani said the three European countries (UK, France and Germany) have unfortunately taken unconstructive and hasty behavior, while technical talks with the IAEA still continue. Iran is witnessing such illogical measures by European countries, so that issuance of anti-Iran resolution at IAEA's Board of Governors will cause problems ahead of Iran's technical cooperation with the Agency.

Answering a question regarding Iran's artillery attack on Iraq's Erbil, Kanaani stated that Iran will not remain silent about the threat to its territorial security especially border threats and separatist groups, and will defend its security with utmost all power.

Referring to the recent remarks made by the Azerbaijani President, the spokesman said the Azerbaijani ambassador was summoned to the Foreign Ministry to be informed of Iran's official stance.

"Although Iran's policy is based on expansion of ties with neighbors, no one has the right to misuse such a policy," he emphasized.

Elsewhere in his remarks, he said Iran welcomes diplomatic talks between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

Regarding the recent claims about the sale of weapons by Iran to Russia for use in the war with Ukraine, Kanaani said, "Iran has not sent any equipment and weapons to Russia for use in the war in Ukraine so that Iran's defense cooperation with Russia is within the legal framework".

"Iran has presented its positions many times. Iran adheres to the policy of active neutrality regarding Ukraine, due to the good relationship with the two countries. We tried to bring the two sides back on the right track to resolve differences," he added.

"Iran emphasizes friendly relations with other countries, the issue of which has been put atop agenda of the 13th government under President Raisi."

"Iran is not a member of any military alliance, but when it sees its national security in danger, it will react harshly. Iran tries to play a positive role in the case of Ukraine," Kanaani added.
