Tehran (ISNA) - Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Kanaani stressed that the issue of sanction removal talks have not been removed from Iran's agenda and the diplomatic developments show that the other parties are also committed to continuing these talks.

Speaking at a weekly press conference on Monday, Kanaani referred to the European Union's attempt to impose sanctions against Iran and expressed hope that the block adopts reasonable behavior and policy towards Iran.

Elsewhere in his remarks, the spokesman spoke about the negotiations between Iran and Saudi Arabia, describing them as useful.

"The negotiations that took place were useful and understandings were reached, and if the agreements are reached, the ground will be provided for the next round of negotiations at the level agreed upon by the two countries," he added.

Pointing to the current political process in Iraq, Kanaani congratulated Iraq's newly-elected President Abdul Latif Rashid and expressed hope that stability in Iraq will be strengthened and that Baghdad will have a stronger role in regional political equations.

He also said that Iran welcomes the strengthening of bilateral and regional cooperation between the two countries.
