Tehran, IRNA -- Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Nasser Kanaani said that based on international law and the UN Charter's provisions, the Islamic Republic of Iran reserves its right to defend national security against acts of aggression from any territory and stands firmly against any terrorist acts.
Kanaani slammed the statements issued and positions taken by some countries, including Germany and the United States, regarding the Iranian armed forces' attack on terrorist groups bases that have carried out terrorist operations in the Islamic Republic of Iran from the Iraqi Kurdistan Region and are fomenting internal disturbances in Iran.
The Islamic Republic of Iran has repeatedly asked the Iraqi central government officials, as well as the regional officials, to prevent the activities of separatist and terrorist groups against the Islamic Republic of Iran, he added.
Unfortunately, the countries that issued the statement, in addition to violating their international responsibility in fighting terrorism, still continue their regrettable discriminatory behavior.
They issue such unilateral statements while they are indifferent to interventions and violations of the sovereignty of regional countries by themselves or others.
Unlike the countries that issued the statement, the Islamic Republic of Iran is steadfast in its international commitments and efforts to prevent and effectively fight terrorism.
