Iran FM: American officials send messages to Iran recently

Tehran (ISNA) - Iran's Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian announced that during the recent days American officials have sent messages about the good gesture of will to reach an agreement and Iran had urged them to show their own realistic will in this path.

Regarding the meetings with his counterparts from different countries, the Iranian Foreign Minister, who is in New York City, said, "Our discussions and consultations with other countries have been about sanction removal talks".

"Our presence in New York increases the sensitivity of the foreign sides to consider what's going on," he added.

According to Al-Alam News Network, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian went on to say, "Our team members in New York had discussions with the representative of EU and countries involved in the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). In addition, I myself had some discussions as well in which the current issue [sanction removal talks] was on the agenda".

"During the meetings, I put emphasis on the need of will and seriousness to reach an agreement, and now this is American side to have courage for taking decisions; then, it will be time to talk about a good, strong and long-lasting agreement," he added.

The Iranian Foreign Minister noted, "During the recent days, the American side repeatedly sent messages about the good gesture of will to reach an agreement and we told them to prove themselves by showing realistic will to reach a consensus".

With regard to the 77th Session United Nations General Assembly, Amir-Abdollahian said, "This year in respect of post-Pandemic world, the main focus was on the transformative solutions to deal with interwoven challenges".

He concluded, "Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi's attention to the multilateralism and his criticism about unilateral actions in the current world played serious roles during the meetings with major sides. Moreover, despite his short-term presence in New York, he had several effective meetings to follow bilateral, regional and international issues".
