Tehran (ISNA) - President of Islamic Republic of Iran Ibrahim Raisi will participate in person in the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) to be held in Uzbekistan on September 15-16. This is the first Summit to be held after Iran membership was approved.
It has worked relentlessly over the last many years to become a Member of the SCO. Iran will sign the memorandum of obligation at the SCO summit in the Samarkand. SCO Secretary General Zhang Ming says that he expects to see Memorandum of Obligations of Iran joining SCO to be passed at summit.
This is the first time Iran joins an international organization since the Islamic Revolution.
The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is an intergovernmental organization founded in Shanghai in June 2001 to solve territorial disputes in Central Asia among the six founding members: China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. Over time, it expanded into other areas, most notably security, economy, energy, culture and the fight against terrorism, separatism and extremism.
The SCO member countries are China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, India and Pakistan. The Islamic Republic of Iran came full member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) on September 17, 2021 with the approval of its bid, 15 years after it first applied.
The main objectives of the SCO are to strengthen relations among member states, promote cooperation in political affairs, economics and trade, scientific-technical, cultural, and educational spheres as well as in energy, transportation, tourism, and environmental protection, safeguard regional peace, security, and stability; and create a democratic, equitable international political and economic order.
It seems that due to Iran's preparations for holding the International Conference and Exhibition(Iran EXISCO ), the Iranian delegation can pay attention to the most important economic opportunities in the Shanghai Organization to unveil and introduce the plans and efforts of Iran to hold a business event (Iran EXISCO) which is a unique opportunity in the commercial and economic fields among the member countries.
It is to be noted that in this regard, the first international conference and exhibition of Iran EXISCO will be held in Tehran in early future.
