Tehran (ISNA) - Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani called the 7th Summit of the Guarantor States of the Astana Process in Tehran with the presidents of Iran, Turkey and Russia in attendance "constructive", saying that Iran welcomed UAE's willingness to send an ambassador to Tehran.

Speaking at a weekly press conference on Wednesday, Kanaani answered a question regarding the American officials' remarks on Russian President Vladimir Putin's recent visit to Tehran and the relations between Tehran and Moscow, and said, "The relations between Iran and Russia are completely bilateral and based on common interests and basically have nothing to do with the US government".

"The relations between Iran and Russia are constructive relations for the two countries and positive relations for the region," he added.

"Also, relations between Iran and Russia in regional area are constructive relations and we witness the effect of this issue in ensuring security in Syria and fighting against terrorism. While the Americans never played such a constructive role in the region," the spokesman went on to say.

Kanaani stressed that Iran and Russia will continue their relations in this framework.

Regarding Saudi Foreign Minister's recent interview with CNN during which he said that Gulf Cooperation Council countries were seeking to expand the relations with Iran whether Bahrain is included or not as there has been no tie between Iran and Bahrain, Kanaani stated "We should wait for a response from Saudi government, but what is related to Iran is that we are seeking to expand the relations with Arab and Islamic countries based on neighboring policy. Moreover, in the 13th government, it is significant for us to expand our relations with the neighboring, Islamic, regional and Asian countries.

"In light of the development of ties between Iran with Saudi Arabia, we may witness the same development between Iran and Bahrain as well," he added.

With regard to American officials' claim over Iran has provided Russia with drones to fight with Ukraine, the Iranian spokesman declared, "We deny American officials' remarks. As I have said before, Americans are making projection and repeating the unrealistic claims by false information. If they were interested in establishing peace in Ukraine, they would play a constructive role to avoid the current conflict, but we haven't witnessed such a thing in American's actions".

According to the latest diplomatic trips to Tehran, Kanaani noted, "Tehran has become the capital of diplomacy, the union for peace and the alliance against unilateralism and militarism".

When asked about the talks for lifting sanctions and the telephone conversation between Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and the European Union's Foreign Policy Chief Josep Borrell, the spokesperson said, "Despite the claims of the US over Doha talks, this round of talks was good and made the doors open to continue the talks".

"On the one hand, the US administration is willing to return to the deal. On the other hand, they are not interested in paying the cost. It seems that the US administration can't make a political and independent decision. If America takes a look at the issue from its own perspective and own national benefits rather the Zionist Regime's benefits, the agreement would be made in the near future".

"As we have already said, the talks are held through the EU, and Iran based on its own approach has no direct talk with the US administration," he added.

Regarding the US President Joe Biden's trip to the region, the Iranian Spokesman said, "We believe that if America really wants to ensure stability, peace and security in the region, it should stop interfering with the domestic affairs of other countries and attempting to create symbolic alliances. The countries of the region, the owners of the region, can create the best situations for peace and security of the region through their regional summits."

"During the trip, the Zionist Regime attempted to forge a regional alliance against Iran and our assessment shows that Israel failed to serve its own efforts, while there has been not benefit for America as well," he added.

Kanaani with referring to the next round of the talks between Iran and Saudi Arabia and the possibility of reopening the embassies in both Tehran and Riyadh stated, "Fortunately, we have held five positive and progressive rounds of talks between the countries in Baghdad. Fortunately, our brothers in Iraq have shown their good gesture and they could play a positive role by their constructive approach".

"So far, the results of the talks have been encouraging so that we can continue the next round of talks at the proper level in Baghdad and take a step forward by the previous achievements," he added.

When asked about whether Iranian officials discussed the construction of dam from Turkey and environmental issues with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan or not, the Iranian spokesman declared, "We have discussions with the regional countries over the environmental issues. We have already had bilateral talks over the same issue and dust haze with Turkish officials. We believe that this is one of the regional problems and the countries should discuss and consult together. We need to create a comprehensive framework to resolve the climatic issues".
