Iran's Chief of Staff: Presence of strangers in region results in nothing but insecurity

Tehran (ISNA) - The Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Bagheri held a meeting with Commander of the Royal Navy of Oman Rear Admiral Saif Bin Nasser Al Rahbi, while stating that Iran and Oman have had favorable military ties for a long time which is expanding in various dimensions.
General Mohammad Bagheri declared, "The two countries' regional policies are balanced and there is required coordination in the field of politics and culture between two countries".
He added that the Strait of Hormuz and Oman Sea were common operation areas, where the two nations have close cooperation as well, while saying that the two countries' ships navigate along each other's coasts.
The Iranian General noted, "The trilateral committees, working on the bilateral ties, have a satisfactory condition and they have recently held two summits in Tehran and one summit in Oman, so these relations can be further improved day after day".
General Mohammad Bagheri also said that the two countries could share their experiences in navigation and fighting terrorism, offering Oman to join Iran's maritime security center in Chabahar Port and to hold joint military drills.
"Absolutely, the presence of strangers in the joint region of two countries results in nothing but insecurity and certainty the expansion of ties between Iran and Oman can serve the interests of the regional nations particularly Iranian and Omani people," he added.
