Tehran (ISNA) - Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and UN chief Antonio Guterres held a telephone conversation to discuss some regional and international developments.

During the conversation, Antonio Guterres underscored the importance of continuing the Vienna talks and termed diplomacy as the best way to resolve the issues between the Islamic Republic of Iran and other parties of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

He deemed that the latest resolution of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) had an advisory role.

During the conversation, Hossein Amir Abdollahian with referring to the negotiations over lifting the sanctions, considered America's action and three European countries to offer the resolution to IAEA as hasty and political.

Expressing support for the continuation of the ceasefire in Yemen, he stressed the need for a complete lifting of the humanitarian siege, and termed it as a good context for further talks between Yemeni groups.

Referring to his recent conversation with his Syrian counterpart, he described the continuation of the Israeli aggression on Syrian territory and the military attack on the civilian airport in Damascus as gross violation of the principles of the UN Charter.

Also, Antonio Guterres appreciated the constructive efforts and positions of the Islamic Republic of Iran in supporting the continuation of the ceasefire in Yemen.
