Tehran (ISNA) - Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh stressed that Russia's approach to the Vienna talks has been constructive so far.
He made the remarks at a weekly press conference on Monday.
Regarding recent remarks made by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov that Moscow has demanded written guarantees from Washington at least at the secretary of state level the sanctions situation will not harm its cooperation with Tehran, Khatibzadeh said, "We have also heard Mr. Lavrov's remarks media and we look forward to hearing the details through diplomatic channels".
"It is clear that Vienna talks are on their way and Iran's peaceful nuclear cooperation shouldn't be limited or affected by any sanctions including Iran's cooperation with China, Russia and other countries," he added.
He added that Russia's approach to the Vienna talks has been constructive so far.
About recent reports that Russia is likely to withdraw from the Vienna talks and the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action known as the (JCPOA) in the coming days, Khatibzadeh said, "We have no information about this and what has been circulated in this regard is mostly media speculation".
"Russia is a responsible member of the JCPOA, and China and Russia unlike the E3 have acted responsibly in the field of the nuclear deal even under US's cruel sanctions against Iran," he went on to say.
In regard to China's stance on the Vienna talks, the spokesman said, "China's position to the Vienna talks has been one of the most constructive positions to the negotiations including in supporting Iran's legal demands during the talks".
Elsewhere in his remarks, Khatibzadeh announced that the exact date of the fifth round of Iran-Saudi Arabia negotiations has not been decided yet but both sides are determined to hold the talks.
However, he stressed that no tangible results have been obtained from this dialogue so far.
Khatibzadeh also announced that some progress has been made in the field of exchanging prisoners between Iran and the United States.
"If the US fulfills its obligations this time, we can close one of the most important cases in the field of humanity," he said.
