Two guided missile destroyers rejoin Iranian navy

Bushehr, IRNA -- Iranian Navy redeployed two guided missile destroyers on Tuesday after overhauling them.

Named Gorz (mace) and Khanjar (dagger), the two destroyers rejoined the fleet in a ceremony in Bushehr port, southern Iran attended by Iran's Navy Commander Rear Admiral Shahram Irani and Vice President for Science and Technology Sorena Sattari.

The navy's technical commander said that the destroyers were overhauled by the navy's engineers and knowledge-based companies, replacing parts and engines with locally made ones.

The destroyers are equipped with integrated air defense systems, long-range cruise missiles and naval artillery.

Each of the vessels weighs 285 tons and is 47 meters in length.
