Tehran (ISNA) – Iran's President said that in the negotiations to revive the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), we want the implementation of the same JCPOA, not a word less and not a word more, and we do not want JCPOA+, adding, "Today, everyone knows that the only solution to this problem is the full implementation of the nuclear deal".
Speaking in the cabinet meeting on Wednesday, Dr Hassan Rouhani emphasised, "This has three stages, the first stage is the complete lifting of sanctions, which is the responsibility of the United States that has imposed them, and of course others must help, and any sanctions imposed under various pretexts and with new labels should be lifted".
Dr. Rouhani clarified, "The second step is the verification that will be done after the lifting of sanctions, and the third step is to return to the obligations based on the agreement under the JCPOA, which we will do".
In another part of his speech, the President stated that on April 18, 1979, the Iranian army was revived with new features by the order of Imam Khomeini (RA), and said, "Imam Khomeini's order to revive the army foiled some groups' plots aimed at disbanding the Army forever".
Pointing out that the armed forces have a very important role for the national security of the country after the presence of the people, the President stated, "We owe our armed forces for the sacrifices and efforts that they have done for the nation over the past 42 years".
In another part of his speech, referring to the COVID situation in the country and emphasizing that people's health is of great importance, Dr. Rouhani added, "From today, we must see the post-COVID situation and prepare and strengthen ourselves for those conditions".
He continued, "The outbreak of coronavirus in the world has doubled the importance of developing the cyberspace and electronic and digital services in people's lives".
He also went on to describe self-sufficiency in the production of essential food as another important matter that needs to be taken into account in the post-COVID era, saying, "In the Government of Prudence and Hope, the production of agricultural products has increased over 30 million tonnes".
Dr. Rouhani also referred to yesterday's meeting of Cabinet's Economic Coordination Board regarding vaccination, saying, "We need to explain to the people the restrictions caused by the United States' sanctions for purchasing vaccines from outside".
