Iranian President stresses importance of resolving regional issues through dialogue

Tehran (ISNA) - Welcoming Qatari government's position on regional issues, Iran's President stressed the need to resolve regional issues and crises including the Yemeni crisis through dialogue, calling the presence of Zionist Regime in the region dangerous, saying, "The only successful way to ensure security, peace and stability in the region is resolving issues peacefully, responsibility and taking into account the collective interests. We believe that militarism can't resolve regional issues".
Speaking on Tuesday evening in a phone call with the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, President Hassan Rouhani congratulated the government and people of the country on the arrival of the holy month of Ramadan and stressed the development and deepening of Tehran-Doha relations in all fields, especially trade and economic.
Dr. Rouhani also referred to the recent talks in Vienna on the nuclear issue and the US desire to return to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), emphasizing, "The only way is for the US to return to the deal and lift all sanctions and fulfill all obligations under United Nations Security Council Resolution 2231".
"There is no doubt that after the United States does this, Iran will return to all its obligations under the deal as well," said Rouhani.
I hope the Americans have realized over the years that sanctions and pressure are not the right way, Rouhani said, adding, "The Americans need to go back to the Security Council resolution and the nuclear deal between the seven countries, and that is the only solution".
Referring to the good cooperation between the two countries in various political and economic fields, the President stressed the need to develop and deepen relations and to use all capacities to advance economic and trade affairs.
In this conversation, the Emir of Qatar congratulated the holy month of Ramadan and emphasized on the development and deepening of relations between the two countries, especially cooperation in the field of transportation, and said, "The two countries should use all capacities to develop relations".
Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani welcomed the start of the negotiations of the Joint Commission of the JCPOA in Vienna and stressed, "Doha welcomes the path of dialogue and negotiation to resolve the problems and hopes that all parties to the deal will return to their commitments to facilitate the revival of this multilateral international agreement".
The Emir of Qatar once again invited the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran to visit Qatar and expressed hope that during the visit, the officials of the two countries will discuss and exchange views on bilateral and regional issues of interest.
