Tehran (ISNA) - Iranian Foreign Minister referred to EU recent action in imposing sanctions on a number of Iranian officials, saying "In recent years, European Union by failing to fulfill its obligations and succumbing to US pressure has shown that it is gradually losing its relevance in international relations".

Speaking in a joint press conference with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov on Tuesday, Mohammad Javad Zarif continued, "Today, EU instead of condemning US terrorist threat against the food and medicine security of more than 82 million Iranians, instead of condemning the attack on Natanz Fuel Enrichment Plant, they pass over very softly and at the same time act against the Iranian military authorities".

He noted, "We will definitely deal with this action of EU".

Zarif also thanked Russia for its position against the sabotage that took place on Sunday in Natanz, and said, "We emphasize the need for continued cooperation and for the United States to return to its obligations and to lift all sanctions against Iran".

He went on to say, "Iran is also taking action after verification, and we have no problem returning to fulfilling our obligations".

Iran top diplomat reminded US officials that "Let them not forget that when Mr. Trump came to power, Iran had 300 kilograms of enriched uranium. Today, Iran has over 4000 kilograms".

Zarif emphasized, "After 42 years of testing Iranian people, Americans must understand that threating is not the way to deal with Iran. Nuclear terrorism is not the way to deal with Iran".

Lavrov, for his part, pointed to the sanctions imposed by EU on 11 Iranian individuals and entities and emphasized, "We hope that European Union will understand the unacceptability of imposing sanctions on Iran in JCPOA talk terms and conditions and Moscow condemns any attempt to disrupt the Vienna talks to revive JCPOA."

He also criticized unilateral and illegal US sanctions imposed against Iran, stressing that Washington should lift all unilateral sanctions imposed against Islamic Republic of Iran.
