The head of the Iranian Army's Strategic Studies Center says the country's Armed Forces are prepared to give a firm response to enemies' threats.
"All the enemies' moves at the borders and inside and outside the region on the ground, in the air and at sea are being carefully monitored through different systems," Brigadier General Ahmadreza Pourdastan said on Saturday.
"Warnings sent by [Iran's] Armed Forces have undermined the willpower of the Americans and led to deterrence," he added.
He noted that the downing of an intruding US drone in June gave a "very strong warning" to the Americans because they sought to wage a "limited war in the region" but their unmanned aerial vehicle was shot down by a domestically-manufactured Iranian missile.
On June 20, Iran shot down an intruding American spy drone in the southern coastal province of Hormozgan.
Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) said in a statement that the US-made Global Hawk surveillance drone was brought down by its Air Force near the Kouh-e Mobarak region – which sits in the central district of Jask County – after the aircraft violated Iranian airspace.
The Iranian commander further praised high security along the country's borders and said there is "no specific military threat."
"If there is any threat, it can be in a limited form and there is also the capability and capacity to nip that threat in the bud even before it reaches the borders," Pourdastan pointed out.
Chairman of the Chiefs of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Baqeri said late last month that the Islamic Republic has mustered sustainable and strong deterrence power to ward off plots by enemies who think about any form of aggression against the country.
"Praise be to God, at the present time, a sustainable and strong form of deterrence has been created in the face of enemy's plot to carry out any act of aggression against the Islamic Iran and enemies have understood that the Islamic Iran enjoys the readiness, determination and courage and will not hesitate to defend its ideals, land and people," he said.
His remarks came just a day after Iran's Defense Minister Brigadier General Amir Hatami also said that the Islamic Republic will give a strong response to the slightest act of aggression.
"We will deal severely with the slightest act of aggression and if such behavior is repeated, our response will certainly be stronger," Hatami said in an address to National Conference on Jihad and Resistance in Tehran.
