Iran's flotilla docks at Baku for 2019 Sea Cup

Tehran (ISNA) – Iranian Navy Force flotilla, containing Separ and Joshan missile-launching corvettes arrived in Baku, Azerbaijan to participate in 2019 International Sea Cup for the third time.

The competition will be held August 5-15 between naval squadrons of four Caspian Sea littoral states, including Iran, Russia, Kazakhstan, and Azerbaija in the territorial waters of Azerbaijan.

The Iranian flotilla was welcomed in the presence of Iran's ambassador to Azerbaijan Javad Jahangirzadeh, a group of staff and personnel of Iranian Embassy to Baku, and senior officials of Azeri Navy Forces.

Head of Iranian Navy delegation Hossein Hassani noted that the international competition can improve interactions between Caspian Sea littoral states' navies.

According to the official, 2019 Sea Cup follows the purpose of preserving security in the Caspian Sea by cooperation between its littoral states.

Azerbaijan has hosted the competitions for three consecutive years since 2017 with two previous rounds held in Russia.

Iran and Azerbaijan has participated in the competition with two warships, Russia with three warships and Kazakhstan with one warship.
