Russian FM: Some European countries awaiting Iran's violating JCPOA
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Moscow, June 11, IRNA -- Some European Union members want Iran to make a mistake and breach he Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), said Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in an international forum on Primakov Readings on Tuesday.
"Preserving the JCPOA depends a lot on the Europeans," Lavrov said, adding that the US attempts to make the world not obey the United Nations Security Council resolution is quite clear.
Lavrov also said that signing the non-aggression treaty, suggested by Tehran, between Iran and the Arab states is very useful.
The US is trying to impose his geopolitical supremacy on the world and be the sole decision-maker in the world, he said.
The Russian foreign minister added the US continues to hurt the security that was provided after the World War II.
Lavrov said that the US needs to put an end to its military, economic and political pressures on the countries that oppose its policies.
The US uses "unfair competition methods" and wages trade wars, he said.
On May 8, 2018 the US pulled out of the JCPOA and imposed economic sanctions on Iran again, aiming at halting its oil exports.
A year later, unhappy with the other signatories' insufficient measures to comply with the deal, Tehran declared that it would reduce its commitment to the deal's terms on the limits of low-enriched uranium and heavy water.
