Zarif warns of consequences of US' decision to designate IRGC as terror group

Tehran (ISNA) – Iranian Foreign Minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif warned that US' decision to designate the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization would have catastrophic consequences for American forces in the region.

"#NetanyahuFirsters who have long agitated for FTO designation of the IRGC fully understand its consequences for US forces in the region. In fact, they seek to drag US into a quagmire on his behalf. @realDonaldTrump should know better than to be conned into another US disaster," Mr. Zarif wrote on his official Twitter account.

Earlier on April 5, Reuters had reported, "The United States is expected to designate Iran's elite Revolution Guards Corps, a foreign terrorist organization".

According to Reuters, "The decision is expected to be announced by the U.S. State Department, perhaps as early as Monday (April 8)".
