IAEA Chief: Iran implementing its JCPOA commitments

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

London, March 4, IRNA -- Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) reiterated the fact that Iran is implementing its commitments under the nuclear deal, also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

'My report on Verification and monitoring in the Islamic Republic of Iran in light of United Nations Security Council resolution 2231 (2015) covers relevant activities of the Agency in that country over last few months,' Amano said.

'Iran is implementing its nuclear-related commitments under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action. It is essential that Iran continues to fully implement those commitments,' he added.

Amano went on to say 'the Agency continues to verify the non-diversion of nuclear material declared by Iran under its Safeguards Agreement. Evaluations regarding the absence of undeclared nuclear material and activities in Iran continue.'

Amano noted 'in implementing verification activities in Iran, the Agency analyses all safeguards-relevant information, which normally takes time, and takes action when appropriate.

The Agency undertakes analysis and takes action in an impartial, independent and objective manner, within the existing safeguards framework and in line with established safeguards practice.'

The 14th report earlier released by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) once again reiterated Iran's compliance with its commitments under the nuclear deal.

Iran's Permanent Ambassador to International Organizations in Vienna, Austria, Kazem Gharibabadi earlier said the IAEA's new report is once again a strong reason on Iran's commitment.

He added that like in the 13th report, in the 14th one, the IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano reiterated the fact that the IAEA has continued monitoring and verifying Iran's commitments based on the JCPOA articles since the implementation of the deal.
