Insurgents behind Zahedan terror attack detained

Tehran (ISNA) - Commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Ground Forces, Brigadier-General Mohammad Pakpour announced that insurgents involved in the recent Zahedan terror attack have been detained and the suicide bomber of the attack is a Pakistani citizen named Hafiz Mohammad Ali.

"After the terror attack, we started our investigations and took necessary measures toward detaining the elements involved in the Zahedan terror attack. Following the identification of the suicide vehicle, we started operations for detaining the terrorists and destroying their supportive team and the group that had prepared the suicide vehicle," the commander said Tuesday.

According to the General, Iranian forces have detained a woman on Sunday which was their first clue in the case and they have used it to reach the other terrorists.

"Two members of the terror group are Pakistani and the suicide bomber was a Pakistani citizen named Hafiz Mohammad Ali," Pakpour, who was speaking on the sidelines of a ceremony commemorating the martyrs of the terror attack, said.

Three members of the group are from Sistan and Baluchestan Province, which two of them have been arrested and the forces are working on detaining the other suspect, according to the commander

Pakpour also said that the terror group had prepared a lot of weapons and equipment to conduct terror attacks in the anniversary of the Islamic Revolution of Iran and other events.

The IRGC personnel were traveling between the cities of Zahedan and Khash, in Sistan and Baluchestan Province on Wednesday, when their bus was targeted in a suicide car bomb attack, killing 27 security forces and injuring 13 others.The so-called Jaish ul-Adl terrorist group claimed responsibility for the bombing.
