Iran's 60th naval fleet docks in Colombo Port

Tehran (ISNA) - The 60th naval fleet of Iran's Navy, currently sailing through international waters seeking to expand its naval presence, docked at Sri Lanka's Colombo Port.

The Iranian fleet comprising Bayandar destroyer, Bushehr logistic warship, and Lavan warship, berthed at the Port of Colombo on a training and goodwill visit.

Sri Lanka Navy welcomed the trio of ships in accordance with naval tradition on their arrival at the harbor premises.

The Commanding officers of the ships, Lieutenant Commander Mahmood Badvi, Lieutenant Commander Hasan Beygi and Lieutenant Commander Mohammad Bagher Rahnama called on Commander Western Naval Area, Rear Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne and held cordial discussions, Sri Lanka Navy said.

This is the seventh Iranian navy flotilla which has docked at a Sri Lankan port.

During their stay in the island the crew members of ships are expected to take part in a number of programs including cultural events and friendly sporting activities organized by Sri Lanka Navy.

According to Colombo Page, on completion of their four-day official tour, the ships are scheduled to set sail from Colombo harbor on Monday February 18.
