Tehran (ISNA) – Iranian Navy Commander, Rear Admiral Hossein Khanzadi announced on Sunday that Iranian and Russian navies are preparing to hold joint naval exercises in the Caspian Sea, including rescue and anti-piracy drills.
"Tactical, rescue and anti-piracy war games between Iranian and Russian naval forces are being planned and will be implemented in the near future," Rear Admiral Khanzadi said.
"The drills will bring the two countries to a higher level of naval cooperation at strategic, tactical and operational levels," he added.
Stressing that Iran doesn't allow the presence of any trans-regional forces in Caspian Sea, Rear Admiral Khanzadi stated, "Caspian Sea is the sea of peace and friendship and all Caspian Sea Littoral States follow the same approach".
