Final stage of "Great Prophet-12" drills kicks off

Tehran (ISNA) – The ground forces of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) kicked off the final stage of military drills named "Great Prophet-12" on Saturday in the Persian Gulf region, in southern parts of Iran.
The ground forces of IRGC kicked off the final stage of eight-day large-scale military drills named "Great Prophet-12", implementing an operation of coastal attack in the Persian Gulf region.
The drills are attended by commander of Khatam-al Anbiya Central Headquarter, Major General Gholam Ali Rashid, Iranian commander of IRGC, Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari, second-in-command of the IRGC, Brigadier General Hossein Salami, IRGC Ground Forces Commander, Brigadier General Mohammad Pakpour, IRGC Navy Commander, Rear Admiral Alireza Tangsiri and a group of senior commanders of Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The drills, which started on 15 December in Tehran and Isfahan, include the participation of quick reaction units, special forces, rangers, airborne forces, including combat support, reconnaissance and unmanned combat aerial vehicle (UCAVs), engineering units, pin-pointing medium-range missiles, and the IRGC Navy's Zolfaghar fast attack craft.
The implementation of amphibious and coastal defense operations is the main purpose of the drills.
