Araqchi: JCPOA members compensate US withdrawal
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Tehran, Dec 3, IRNA -- Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Abbas Araqchi said on Monday that other members of the G5+1 are now planning to compensate the US withdrawal from the internationally-recognized Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) treaty.
According to the government website, he made the remarks after his meeting with Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi.
The Islamic Republic of Iran with close cooperation with Europe, Russia and China along with other trade partners of Iran are mulling a plan to keep the routes open for expansion of cooperation between the two sides, he said.
Other members are doing their best to draw out a blueprint to thwart US unilateral sanctions on the JCPOA, Araqchi said.
The two sides also discussed the latest status of the Iranian border guards kidnapped and taken to Pakistan.
Araqchi also appreciated Pakistan for its efforts for release of five Iranian border guards and underlined that efforts will be continued until release of other border guards.
